SEO Starts With Your Business Name

SEO starts with your business name.I was contacted recently by a web domain owner that was trying to sell the domain www.ontariovideoproduction.com (or something similar) advising that I could throw away my pay-per-click web advertising program because if I owned the above domain I would rank #1 on search engines, automatically. I’m sure he wanted a ridiculous price for the url but I must admit the person was clever to buy the domain early- hopefully he made a decent dollar on it selling it to the one of the 100+ video production companies in Ontario.

By the way, I never pay-for-clicks and neither should you. You don’t have to- just take advantage of good SEO (search engine optimization) and you will never have to pay for web traffic.

The vendor of the url was right in what he was saying and wrong. He was right because having a great domain name that describes your business with relevant keywords is very smart- I wish I had thought more about this before I chose ’45 Degrees Latitude’ for my own business. However, there are other ways to ‘skin the cat’. Google ‘Ontario video production company’ and my company comes up #1-#3 which is pretty good considering there are over 100 of us in Ontario. However, ontariovideoproduction.com is right there too and perhaps they only had to pick a great url…clever.

My point is, if you are starting a new business consider picking a business name that can be reflected in your domain name too. It will pay big dividends down the road. If for instance you were opening a new bass fishing resort and you wanted a great web presence, consider calling your company something that could roll into a good url such as www.canadabassfishingresort.com This url is loaded with 4 of your best keywords that will automatically drive you to the head of the pack in most Google searches. Alternatively, consider purchasing urls that could describe your business well and link-forward to your existing domain. In the above example www.canadabassfishingresort.com may be taken (it isn’t last time I checked) but the .ca or .net may be available from a domain seller like Name.com or domainsatcost.com

But, what if you decided years ago to name your resort ‘Jim and Betty’s Fishing Resort’? That’s where a SEO specialist comes in…adjusting your website so that it comes to the top in search engine rankings by using a host of tools including keywords throughout your site, obtaining inbound links, effectively using meta-descriptions and titles, etc. We can help you rise to the top in Google searches by using sound SEO strategies.

Your website can be your very best business investment to obtain leads and sales working for you 24/7.
But it all can start at the beginning with a great business name and url…choose it wisely!

Just a footnote: We are pleased to launch this site you are viewing after picking a domain name that contained 2 of our best keywords: Ontario and SEO.
